Q. How long should I water my lawn
A. To answer this question you must first determin your area or areas in question. Is it a flat surface, is it in the shade, what is your plant material to be watered, etc. Also important is the season or current weather conditions. Rotory heads can run from 8 min to 45 min and sprays can run from 1 min to 15 min. Drip or soaker can run from 1min to 1 hour. I wish my answer could be more exact, unfortunantly there are many variables that are constant and also changing. You can also contact our office to schedule an appointment to help consult your programing needs and condition of your sprinkler.
Q. Hunter sprinkler head PGP (?) freezes up at far stop right position. Manually moving to left position head will rotate back to right position and freeze up again. What to do and how to fix? Thank you in advance. SF
A. The head is what we call stuck. Basically some plastic gears are broken inside the head, keeping the internal leaf springs stationary and unable to return back the other way. Fix: need a new head. You can either have us come and replace it, or you can come to our retail store and purchase the head from us. Our address is 13235 chandler rd. Omaha, NE 68138
I was a little surprised when I got a call from dispatch yesterday morning asking what time I wanted to meet the service tech.
That’s world class service. Thanks Dustin. FYI – Marco (the service tech) and Ron are a solid twosome. You have developed some really impressive people.

Schedule a turn on with one of our technicians - We recommend a full inspection of your system including turning the water on in the basement, checking the flow through you ball/gate valves, checking pressure variances, and making sure your backflow preventor is operating properly. We will also check for any hydrolic leeks, root restrictions, winter damage or any failing heads. We can also check the design of the system at that time. Sometimes the landscape changes, grows, and is blocking water and creating wet and dry spots. Every turn on gets a full evaluation and is recommended.
Check your backflow from winter damage - The backflow preventer is that strange looking device on the water line where it exits your house. (It’s purpose is to prevent water from backing into your home water supply- very necessary.) It holds water when the system is operational & will quickly freeze when the temperature gets below 32 degrees.
If you see that any freeze damage has occurred please call us, it is extremely important this device operates correctly.
Spring aeration caution - Aeration oxygenates the soil & reduces compaction. Before you aerate, take a few minutes to mark your sprinkler heads to eliminate damage from aerator spikes. Get some marking flags from our retail store, manually start your system, & put flags beside your heads. You’ll be glad you did.
fertilizer application - It is generally acknowledged that this application may be the most beneficial of the year for healthy turf.
If you are a do it yourselfer please come check out our new retail space. We have anything you need for your sprinkler system. We also have technicians, designers, and contractors on hand for your assistance.
Q – I\’m trying set a manual start for all stations. I’ve watched the video — the dial says Manual one station but I don\’t have the Manual Start Press Hold button. How do I get it to start?
Expert Answer – Depending on which clock/timer you have simply hold the right arrow button down for at least 3 seconds and it should start up.

“You know a lot of things can happen during the construction process. I know that I can count on you guys (Millard Sprinkler) to take care of things if/when a problem occurs.”
