Draining your sprinkler system
Your system will need to be drained when the temperature drops below 32 degrees F at night. Millard Sprinkler will not be responsible for any freeze damage due to systems not being drained.
STEP 1:Shut off the water to the system (A)
STEP 2:Go outside to the backflow and open the test cocks with a screwdriver by turning the screw ¼ turn in either direction. This will allow the water to drain from the valve. Leave the screws open all winter. (D)
STEP 3:Open drain valve in basement and drain the water into a bucket or floor drain. Leave drain open all winter. (B)
DO NOT TOUCH THE LARGE HANDLES ON THE BACKFLOW VALVE. TURNING THE HANDLES WILL RESULT IN FREEZE DAMAGE. (C)
